Pre-Performance Routines are a Game Changer ⭐️
Jul 25, 2024Mental preparation is key for peak performance!
As many athletes are gearing up for the Olympics, Championships, and other important competitions it’s important to remember that mental preparation is a game changer.
Mind Elite Equestrian advocates that every athlete develop a Pre-Performance Routine (PPR).
What’s a PPR?
A set of thoughts and actions that are done systematically before every competition.
Pre - performance routines increase focus, confidence, and motivation, while reducing stress and anxiety.
PPR's are extremely grounding and have an activation effect. They're a signal to ourselves that we're about to do something important. PPR's intentionally engage the mind and body; this helps regulate our central nervous system so we're less nervous, more focussed, and aligned for optimal performance.
Here’s a quick list of possible mental tools (pick 3 and organize them into a routine that you do at the same time and in the same order before your competition).
- Deep Breath
- Activation Word
- Movement (rub hands together, tap fingers together, heels down, etc)
- Visual focus point
- Affirmation
Try it, and share your experience with us!
